West Des Moines Leadership Academy

The West Des Moines Leadership Academy selects a non-profit organization to support and raise money for each year. This year, our Class of 2020 has chosen to partner with Food Bank of Iowa as they continue to stock area pantries and organizations with resources during COVID-19. Our goal is to raise as much capitol as possible to support Food Bank’s top priority of ensuring that our most vulnerable neighbors have access to the nutrition and resources they need. The team at Food Bank are currently assembling Emergency Food Packs with approximately 20 pounds of shelf-stable items to make distribution to area partners easier, faster, and safer. Unfortunately, the solution does not come free. The costs for additional food, labor, freight, supplies, sanitation, and miles on the road will be very significant. The solution to ending COVID-19 crisis will be a marathon, not a sprint. Your monetary support will provide Food Bank of Iowa with the endurance to get there. Each dollar contributed will provide up to 4 meals to food insecure Iowans. We hope you will consider the opportunity to contribute so they may continue providing essential nutrition and support to those in our communities that are in need. Please refer to the next page to explore contribution options. Thank you for your support and generosity. We look forward to making an impact with your team!

Food Bank of Iowa - COVID-19

About This Campaign

Even as the economy begins to slowly reopen, we know the effects of COVID-19 will be felt long into the future and our neighbors will continue to need our help.

Before the COVID-19 crisis, Food Bank of Iowa distributed over 5,000 BackPack sacks each week and supplied over 100 school pantries with food to feed families in need. Many congregate meal sites have shuttered leaving seniors on fixed incomes without consistent access to food. And families will continue to have to make hard decisions as they try and get back on their feet.

Food Bank of Iowa will continue working hard to safely get food to our friends and neighbors in need. Unfortunately, we know the need for our services will continue to grow as Iowans get back to work, and there is a long road ahead.

We are grateful for your donations. Your support ensures Food Bank of Iowa can continue providing quality, nutritious food to Iowans in need – especially during these challenging times.

Thank you for continuing to help us help others.
