Team Fundraising Page of Project Zúme
Project Zúme is a collaboration of churches, faith-based organizations, and businesses which will serve as an extension of Food Bank of Iowa for purposes of emergency food assembly, distribution, and delivery within the metro area. The first food distributions kicked off on March 23 at Cottage Grove Church. Other distribution sites along with delivery partners will be announced soon. About This Campaign
In light of the COVID-19 crisis, the world around us is changing daily. Unschooled children are not getting 2-3 meals provided daily at school. University students have been displaced. Low wage earners are losing precious hours which would have converted to food on the table. Able-bodied seniors are now home-bound. Small businesses and restaurants are shuttering operations. Day cares are closing.
At Food Bank of Iowa, our top priority remains to ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors have safe access to the nutrition and resources they need. We are collaborating with schools, area agencies on aging, churches, and community partners to help feed people in-need. We are assembling Emergency Food Packs with approximately 20 pounds of shelf-stable items to make distribution for our partners easier, faster, and safer.
Unfortunately, the solution does not come free. The costs for additional food, labor, freight, supplies, sanitation, and miles on the road will be very significant. The solution to ending COVID-19 crisis will be a marathon, not a sprint. Your monetary support will provide us with the endurance to get there. $1 will provide up to 4 meals to food insecure Iowans.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!
