Food Bank of Iowa COVID-19 Relief

Food Bank of Iowa COVID-19 Relief

About This Campaign

The Situation

In light of the COVID-19 crisis, the world around us is changing daily. Unschooled children are not getting 2-3 meals provided daily at school. University students have been displaced. Low wage earners are losing precious hours which would have converted to food on the table. Able-bodied seniors are now home-bound. Small businesses and restaurants are shuttering operations. Day cares are closing.

The Solution

At Food Bank of Iowa, our top priority remains to ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors have safe access to the nutrition and resources they need. We are collaborating with schools, area agencies on aging, churches, and community partners to help feed people in-need. We are assembling Emergency Food Packs with approximately 20 pounds of shelf-stable items to make distribution for our partners easier, faster, and safer.

The Cost

Unfortunately, the solution does not come free. The costs for additional food, labor, freight, supplies, sanitation, and miles on the road will be very significant. The solution to ending COVID-19 crisis will be a marathon, not a sprint. Your monetary support will provide us with the endurance to get there. $1 will provide up to 4 meals to food insecure Iowans.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

Food Bank of Iowa

Campaign to Support Food Bank of Iowa

**In light of COVID-19 (coronavirus), Food Bank of Iowa operations are continuing uninterrupted as the need grows.  Our top priority remains to ensure that our most vulnerable neighbors have safe access to the nutrition and resources they need. As we pivot toward more mobile food distributions to meet increasing need, fill in for services lost through school partners, and compensate for stressed pantry distributions; our food and material costs are quickly mounting.

You can support Food Bank of Iowa's COVID-19 relief efforts by designating your gift to "COVID-19 Relief" in donation check-out.

At the Food Bank of Iowa, we’re dedicated to ending hunger in Iowa—for each one of the 175,000 children, families, and seniors we serve. With your help, we can.

95.9 cents of every dollar donated to Food Bank of Iowa supports our food distribution programs. By keeping administrative services expenses (1.1%) and fundraising expenses (3%) low, we can provide 4 meals for every dollar contributed to Food Bank of Iowa.

Together, we can solve hunger.
